This year is the 10th anniversary of Strava, the social network for athletes who, once again, has presented its annual report of the sports year. The study reveals new data on the current panorama and trends of sport in the world. Strava has 48 million users in 195 different countries that have shared 19 million activities a week throughout the year. The report has analyzed each of these activities and presents new data on athletes

  • That endurance races have grown in popularity in the last year. In fact, in Spain, 10.6% more runners than last year have finished a marathon or ultra marathon this year.

  • That indoor cycling is not just a winter thing and is a practice that extends throughout the year

  • The increasingly versatile athlete: the number of athletes who practice a single sport decreases year after year

  • The Hoka One One Carbon X and the Trek Checkpoint, the most popular running shoes and bike of the year among runners and cyclists

  • The Nike ZoomX Vaporfly Next% and the Salomon Ultra Pro: the fastest running shoes and the ones that cover the longest routes

  • On January 1, even the most athletes sleep late

  • The Spanish athlete in numbers: the runner covers an average of 8km, with an unevenness of 59m in exits of 45’02". The cyclist does activities, on average, of 2h00’38", traveling 41.5km and adding a drop of 491m.

  • Sport is better in company: in Spain 44% of bike trips are made at least with another person. % Increases up to 53% in the case of cycling women
