Bio
Jack Haig a country Victorian in character and heart, began his cycling journey on the mountain bike. Crowned as u23 National Champion in that discipline, it was with the Tasmanian Avanti Racing Team that he was tempted into racing on the road. Although Jack is naturally friendly and easy going, his approach to cycling is meticulous and determined – he is constantly refining his approach to training, diet and racing. This precise methodology has seen Jack rise through the ranks from the National Road Series with Avanti Racing, onto the Australian u23 National Team in Europe and then to the World Tour with Mitchelton-Scott.
In the professional ranks, Jack has continued to shine and make progress with an appearance in the Vuelta a España in his debut year. In 2017, he had an emphatic solo victory for his first professional win in the Tour of Poland, confirming his talent and hard work. A return to the Vuelta a Espana a second time in 2017 has seen Jack step it up once again, being a key support for the GC contenders in the mountains.
Joining Mitchelton-Scott in 2016, Jack was a new addition to the team’s growing climbing pedigree. Jack came through the under-23 ranks with strong performances, finishing second overall at the 2015 Tour de l’Avenir. In his second season with the team, 2017, Jack enjoyed a breakthrough year where he claimed his first professional victory at the Tour of Poland and stepped up a level as an important climbing supporter at the 2017 Vuelta España.
