Registration opens for the Salomon Ultra Pirineu
Last year was the 10th event and there were historic moments in the plaza Cataluña in Bagà when, 10 years later, Jessed Hernández, winner of the first event, was the first to cross the line on the 10th anniversary.
Registration for the 11th event is open from today until January 28 on the Salomon Ultra Pirineu website, where 1,000 race numbers will be available. The event, which this year will be run over 94km and 6,200m of overall ascent, will be held on October 5 in the Parc Natural del Cadí Moixeró.
The stellar event will start in Bagà on Saturday, October 5 at 5.30h. If there are more than 1,000 applications, on January 31 the traditional raffle will be held. This year, the emblematic race that gives the event its name will once again be more alpine in character, with less piste and asphalt but retaining all the usual emblematic stretches.
In previous years, runners from more than 60 countries have taken up the challenge of the Salomon Ultra Pirineu and it’s hoped that this year runners from every continent will gather in Bagà.
One novelty this year is the Trail Pirineu, which starts on October 5 at 6:00h from Bellver over a distance that is yet to be decided. Also on Saturday , the Sky Pirineu, over 36km and 2,600m of overall ascent, will set off from Bagà at 10:00h. There will be 1,000 places available for each and the Sky Pirineu will also be the last race in the Migu Run Skyrunner World Series 2019 calendar.
Registration for these races opens on February 5. Once again, the Parque Natural del Cadí Moixeró is getting ready to host the five events plus the two new ones.
