Clàudia Galicia shines with a gold and two silvers in the Skimo World Championship

Clàudia Galicia closes a very good World Championship of skimo with a gold in Sprint and a silver in the relay race. The athlete of Torelló also takes a fourth place in the Individual mode and by teams with Marta Garcia and a sixth place in the Vertical test.

Thus, with a silver in the general classification, Galicia says goodbye to the World Championship of ski mountaineering. “I am very happy to be runner-up in the world in relays and in the general and, although in the middle of the week in the Individual test I suffered some dizziness that did not let me perform at 100%, I feel very satisfied with the results”, declares Galicia.

It has been a very intense week in Villars sur Ollon (Switzerland) for the skier of Torelló, with five high level events in just seven days. The competition began on Sunday, under a cloudy sky, with the test of the Sprint modality, where Galicia qualified for the final very easily, and was proclaimed winner with comfort revalidating the title of world champion achieved in 2017 in the same modality . “I am very happy, it was the great objective of the season, I had been concentrating for many weeks training for it and it has gone very well, with very good feelings”, declared Galicia.

On Tuesday, after a deserved rest day, Galicia was facing the Individual event with the intention of getting on the podium. However, the heat and dizziness from the beginning played a trick on him and made him stay with a very battled fourth position.

In the vertical mode, which took place on Wednesday, despite the fatigue Galicia went all out and got a creditable sixth position. On Friday, in the team event, the bad weather forced them to cut back and change the course but with their partner Marta Garcia, they stayed two minutes away from the podium and got a fourth place.

Finally, today Galicia has taken the silver in the relay race he has done with Marta Garcia and Nahia Quincoces, proclaiming themselves runners-up in the world in this modality.

With these results, Galicia closes this World Championship and faces the last dates of the World Cup, which is among the top positions after getting six silver in the tests in which he has participated so far. Without forgetting that a few weeks ago she was also proclaimed champion of Spain with three golds in the three modalities.
